Paddy Power Acca News

by Matthew Hughes on 17th February 2014, 3:23pm.

Paddy Power have turned there attentions to football accas – or accumulators as the slightly posher may say. According to them there few better feelings in the world than seeing an ambitious, well-planned out football acca come good at juicy odds. An ‘ambitious, random and not at all well planned out acca coming good’ may just about trump that feeling, but either is pretty good.

At Paddy Power, they want to reward punters ambition, judgement and/or luck.
For the month of February:

They will be applying a bonus of up to 100% on winnings if you place an accumulator with three or more selections on top European competitions.

You read it right – a BONUS OF UP TO 100% on successful football accas of three legs or more.
Calculators at the ready, because it works out like this:

Bet Type – Bonus

• Trebles = 5% Bonus
• 4-folds = 10% Bonus
• 5-folds = 15% Bonus
• 6-folds = 20% Bonus
• 7-folds = 30% Bonus
• 8-folds = 40% Bonus
• 9-folds = 50% Bonus
• 10-folds = 60% Bonus
• 11-folds = 70% Bonus
• 12-folds = 80% Bonus
• 13-folds = 90% Bonus
• 14-folds and over = 100% Bonus

Yes, we know successful 14 folds are rarer than Arsene Wenger saying: “I saw the incident clearly and the referee punished my team in the appropriate manner.”

But look at all the tasty bonuses all the way up – 5% for correctly picking three results – even Jamie Redknapp could manage that. Check out the Paddy Power Promo Code and get a £50 free bet!

Champions League Race

by Eric Wood on 17th February 2014, 12:26pm.

Liverpool, Spurs and Everton are serious contenders for Champions League football next season, while Manchester United continue to fall off the pace.

Currently the situation is....

  • Man Utd  are  on 42 points in the Premiership – Spurs got fourth in 2010 after being on 43 points at the same stage of the season and Arsenal claimed a Champions League spot last year after racking up just 44 points after 26 games
  • The average number of Premier League points required to get fourth at this stage of the season in the last 10 years is just 46. Manchester United are just 4 points off that total.
  • Arsenal in 2006 (41) and Liverpool in 2004 (39) both had less league points at this stage of the season than Man Utd do now and still managed to secure fourth position.

To summarise, based on the average of the last 10 years, Man United are currently just four points of what is necessary to get Champions League football. Unfortunately for red devil fans, this is not an average year. In 2008 Liverpool accrued 76 points to finish fourth and that is the highest total of any fourth placed team in the last 10 years. Incredibly the Merseyside club will reach a total of 78 points on the current average of just over two points a game. Basically David Moyes can only afford to drop points in two of the remaining 12 games if United are to challenge for fourth. Even that might not be enough. As Everton manager in 2005 David Moyes took fourth spot, but only after picking up just thirteen points from their last 12 games. A similar return here could leave Man United a massive 16 points off Champions League football.

To Finish In Top 4 Odds.

Liverpool: 1/6
Tottenham: 5/2
Everton: 10/1
Man Utd: 10/1
